The Ability Experience is our national Philanthropy, and its mission statement is "We use shared experiences to support people with disabilities and develop the men of Pi Kappa Phi into servant leaders." Because Pi Kappa Phi owns and operates The Ability Experience we have an opportunity to have a much closer relationship with our philanthropy than any other greek organization. This close relationship means that instead of only hosting a fundraiser or two a year we will actually be involved in our philanthropy through service work. It is a much more powerful experience when you actually have the opportunity to get to know the people that you are serving.
The Ability Experience has many national events that members of Pi Kappa Phi are encouraged to participate in. The most extraordinary of these events is the "Journey of Hope," which is a bicycle ride from the west coast to Washington D.C. Along the way cyclists will stop at groups that support people with disabilities and learn lessons that will impact them for the rest of their life. Locally the Idaho chapter of Pi Kappa Phi is partnering with Families Together to begin to impact the community through serving people with disabilities. In addition to our efforts with Families together we participate in all of the University sponsored volunteerism events, so that we are able to positively impact the community in as many ways as possible.
