June 15 - Eureka

Today was such a good day. We didn't have to wake up until 5:30, and we had a short 70 mike ride compared to yesterday's 115 miles. Spirits were high as we got everyone into town and to the showers by 2:00

Eureka's school mascot is the Vandals! Apparently the school principle a while back was a U of I alumni and changed their mascot.

Getting in so early was great. It gave us a bit of free time, and I took a nap which was absolutely amazing. Once dinner time rolled around we piled into the vans for some reason and drove a block and a half to the sponsors house.

The Lions Club of Eureka sponsored our dinner as they have for the past 20 years! It was cool to hear about the teams from years past. He mentioned that a few years ago the team rearranged the rocks next to the big "E" on the hill to be JOH, he has a picture but has lost it. We decided that we would head up to the big "E" and recreate it for him.

The hill was a little sketchy. I was definitely out of my comfort zone, but in the end I am glad that a went up. It was fun, and I feel closer to the guys who went up. Hopefully it looks good tomorrow morning, we couldn't tell tonight.
